Yesterday was a milestone for me.
Technically though, I guess it was only a baby step.
But baby steps are good. How else can I learn to walk and then eventually run in this new and beautiful land, culture, and language?!?
But my milestone/baby step was…I went with a Japanese lady and her baby to the park. Yes, it was that simple. Nothing huge, nothing spectacular, just a simple trip to the park to look at plum tree blossoms (which are beautiful, btw) and then to taste some Chinese food at a local food festival.
We went though. And I blundered through some Japanese. I had a friend to enjoy God’s beautiful creation with. We chatted about our babies, the instruments we each like to play, and even our shared experience of being nurses. I am grateful for the opportunity, even amidst a new language and culture, to have a friend. God knew that I needed that as we get settled here and begin to share Christ with the people of Japan.
Please pray for my friend. I long to see her come to know the amazing Creator who formed and fashioned the flowers we admired together. I dream of watching her raise her precious son in a Christian home. I am asking God to transform her life with His incredible love.
But in the meantime…I am praising God for baby steps. I am thanking God for giving me a new friend.
